Assessment of surface water quality using statistical analysis methods: Orontes River (Case study)

Abstract: The study investigates the water quality of the Orontes River, which is considered one of the important water recourses in Syria, as it is used for drinking, irrigation, swimming and industrial needs. A database of 660 measurements for 13 parameters concentrations used, were taken from 11 monitoring points distributed along the Orontes River for a period of five years from 2015-2019, and to study the correlation between parameters and their impact on water quality, statistical analysis was applied using (SPSS)… Show more

“…The study aimed to classify the pollution areas in the Orontes River in Syria into low-pollution areas and high-pollution areas through the use of hierarchical cluster analysis. The study achieved to classify these areas in the form of two clusters, and the study reached the identification of the pollutant elements in the water 14 . The study proposed a technique that processes images in a way that can collect prominent particles and separate them from the background of the image, taking some treatments, including removing outliers from prominent areas.…”

“…The most important disinfection method is chlorine dioxide (Al-Jasser 2007), Carl Wilhelm Scheele discovered chlorine in 1774. In the past few decades, global awareness of the risks caused by water quality deterioration in distribution systems has increased due to outbreaks of waterborne diseases (Khouri and Al-Moufti 2022a).…”
