Assessment of the Antimicrobial Potentiality and Functionality of Lactobacillus plantarum Strains Isolated from the Conventional Inner Mongolian Fermented Cheese Against Foodborne Pathogens

Abstract: Lactobacillus plantarum are amongst the diversified lactic acid bacteria (LAB) species which are being utilized abundantly in the food industry. Numerous L. plantarum strains have been reported to produce several antimicrobial compounds. Diacetyl, hydrogen peroxide, organic acids, as well as bacteriocins can also be exemplified by a variable spectrum of actions. The current study was intended to conduct the screening and characterization of antimicrobial prospective of L. plantarum from traditional Inner Mongo… Show more

“…24 These probiotic strains exhibit antibacterial activities through different mechanisms, including the production of organic acids, hydrogen peroxide, antimicrobial peptides, and bacteriocins. 25,26 CFS of Lactobacillus Casei had anti-Shigella activities in vitro. This antibacterial activity was attributed to the production of organic acids since neutralization of the supernatants abolished their antibacterial effects.…”

“…The antimicrobial activities of the LAB isolates against three kinds (six strains) of pathogenic bacteria were tested using the Oxford cup assay as described previously (30). Briefly, 15 ml of 1.5% (w/v) agar medium was poured onto a plate and solidified.…”

“…In recent years, there have been continuous reports of equine influenza outbreaks in China but the relevant gene sequences were not updated. Most of the EIV isolated are belonging to Florida Type II H3N8 [12]. It has high homology with a Mongolia/1/2008 strain isolated from Mongolia and A/equine/Jammu-Katra/6/00 isolated from India.…”
