Assessment of the construct validity and responsiveness of preference-based quality of life measures in people with Parkinson’s: a systematic review

Abstract: ResultsTwenty-three of 2,758 studies were included, of which the majority evidence was for EQ-5D. Overall, good evidence of discriminant validity was demonstrated in the Health Utility Index (HUI)-3, EQ-5D-5L, EQ-5D-3L, 15D, HUI-2 and Disability and Distress Index (DDI). Nevertheless, HUI-2 and EQ-5D-3Lwere shown to be less sensitive among patients with mild Parkinson's. Moderate to strong correlations were shown between the PbQoL measures (EQ-5D-3L, EQ-5D-5L, 15D, DDI, and HUI-II) andParkinson's-specific meas… Show more

“…The EQ‐5D‐5L had increased sensitivity, higher precision, lower bias, and decreased ceiling effect in measuring health status compared to the EQ‐5D‐3L (Janssen et al., 2018 ; Thompson & Turner, 2020 ). In addition, EQ‐5D‐5L was proved to have good evidence of discriminant validity, while EQ‐5D‐3L was less sensitive in patients with PD (Xin & McIntosh, 2017 ). A few studies have focused on the HRQoL of MSA by using the EQ‐5D‐3L (Du et al., 2018 ; Higginson et al., 2012 ; Schrag et al., 2006 ; Winter et al., 2011 ).…”

“…Various pain scales have been utilized in PD studies, but many of these tools are not suitable for use in routine clinical care due to their time requirements [15]. Thus, an efficient pain screening strategy might encompass profiling pain using generic health-related quality of life (HRQoL) tools that have shown construct validity in PWP [16]. One such generic tool is the EuroQol 5 dimensions with five response levels (EQ-5D-5L), which measures mobility, self-care, daily activities, anxiety and depression, and pain and discomfort [17].…”

“…Joo et al studied the morphology, adhesion, and proliferation of cells on PVC pipes with different coatings. For the coating of cell adhesion, it is mainly determined by the uniformity of the coating rather than the coating material [ 4 ]. Leiter et al used a photochemical fixation method to covalently bond dipyridamole to the polyurethane surface.…”
