Assessment of the Efficacy of L-Lysine Sulfate vis-à-vis L-Lysine Hydrochloride as Sources of Supplemental Lysine in Broiler Chickens

Abstract: In this study the effects of L-lysine hydrochloride (containing 78.8% available lysine as crystalline lysine) and L-lysine sulfate (containing 51% available lysine in bacterial cell mass) as source of supplemental lysine in broiler chickens was assessed. The basal diet was supplemented with either L-lysine hydrochloride or L-lysine sulfate to meet lysine requirement. Lysine supplementation irrespective of source improved (P < .05) live weight and food conversion. Live weight and food conversion ratio of the L-… Show more

“…Also, lysine and threonine are generally considered to be the limiting amino acid of RSM, frequently causing reduced growth of animals (Babatunde et al . ; Bahadur, Haldar & Ghosh ). Thus, lysine, threonine and leucine deficiency may be one of the reasons responses for the poorer feed utilization of tilapia fed diet with high inclusion level (>300 g kg −1 ) of RSM.…”

“…Opoola et al (2017) reported that by supplementation of Lys and other essential amino acids significantly effects live weight, carcass weight and dressing percentage. Bahadur et al (2010) observed higher breast yield and meat protein in birds reared on L-Lys sulfate.…”

“…Sharma et al (2018) reported that weight gain and breast yield percentage increased while FCR improved by Lys supplementation. L-Lys sulfate performed better than L-Lys HCl in commercial diets (Bahadur et al, 2010). The comparison between Lys HCl and Lys sulfate was performed in pigs and fish but there was limited experimental study on bio efficacy of Lys sources in broilers (Wang et al, 2007).…”

“…De manera similar, en un estudio conducido para determinar la eficacia de dos fuentes de lisina sintética (L-lisina HCl y L-lisina sulfato) en la dieta de pollos, no se reportaron variaciones en los valores séricos de colesterol total (27).…”
