Abstract: Gene mutations linked to diseases like cancer may be caused by exposure to environmental chemicals. The X-linked phosphatidylinositol glycan class A (PIG-A) gene, required for glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchor biosynthesis, is a key target locus for in vitro genetic toxicity assays.
