Assessments of Modal Split in Long-distance Passenger Transport

Abstract: Abstract:The goal of this paper is to present basic alternative assessments of the division of transport work (or also "modal split") of main transport modes. For this, an example of selected long-distance connections between centres in Czechia, including an identification of major underlying factors, shall be exploited. The paper examines the competitiveness of rail transport in its relation to bus and individual automobile transport, and relations with a potential of rail transport are primarily selected. “…Determination of these costs is performed according to the Formula 3, where D i čas is travel time (in hours) using transport mode i, W čas is the perceived value of time (in CZK/hour), D i dost is time availability of the transport mode i (in hours), J i is fare using transport mode i (in CZK) and I i,1/2 is half the interval between links of the transport mode i (in hours). [1] Results of second phase are the conditional probabilities P i∨V D of the use of transport mean i under the condition of using public transport. The probability P i of use of the transport mean is thus given by On the line 120 are operated in 120 minutes period fast trains Praha -Rakovník.…”

“…The primary analysis tool recommended for modal allocation is the Logit model because it offers the most reliable output variables for more than two modes of transport. By applying the model, we can obtain numerical values for assessing sections of integrated passenger transport [49].…”
