Association Between Disabilities, Educational Attainment, Literacy, and Intimate Partner Violence: Findings from the Indian National Family Health Surveys

Abstract: Intimate partner violence (IPV) is widespread across the Global South, including India, due to cultural and patriarchal norms that encourage and facilitate such behaviors. This, obviously, is an empirical question that can only be answered with national data and there is much more research that needs to be done on the crime experiences of rural people with disabilities throughout the world (for an exploratory work in India with a large rural population see Maher & Hayes, 2023).
