Association Between the Subtypes of Stroke and the Various Risk Factors of Cerebrovascular Accidents: A Cross-Sectional Study

Abstract: Knowing that the prevalence of hypertension, AF, age, and positive family history are significantly different between the two subtypes, the patients having these risk factors can be entered into more specified public health measures, which puts more emphasis on the subtype that they are more prone to.

“…Four papers specifically showed a higher prevalence of FHS in patients with hemorrhagic stroke [ 98 - 101 ] and one study did not find this association [ 102 ]. Notably, in a head-to-head comparison, FHS was more common among survivors of ischemic stroke than hemorrhagic [ 103 ].…”

“…While defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) as the sudden onset of focal neurological disturbance lasting over 24 hours [1], transient ischemic attacks (TIAs) denote brief episodes of neurological dysfunction without permanent cerebral infarction [2]. The age difference observed between the ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke groups was found to be statistically significant [3]. This underscores the necessity for implementing targeted public health interventions, particularly focused on the elderly population.…”

“…1 In addition, impairment of the neurologic system by conditions such as stroke, TBI, PD, and SCI often results in disruption of normal HR, BP, and RRs either at rest or with exercise because of disruptions of autonomic regulation. 21,22,[33][34][35] Although it is established that VSA is an important part of physical therapy practice, there are no published studies that identify VSA patterns among neurologic PTs. Thus, the purpose of this study was to assess VSA patterns among PTs who work with patients with neurologic conditions and to analyze whether demographic characteristics, such as entry-level degree, years of practice experience, APTA membership, or American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) Board Certification, contribute to alterations in VSA practices among PTs.…”
