Association of CYP1B1 Leu432Val Polymorphism and Lung Cancer Risk: An Updated Meta-Analysis

Abstract: Our results suggest that the CYP1B1 Leu432Val polymorphism acts as a risk factor for the carcinogenesis of lung cancer.

“…Finally, CYP1B1 is a polymorphic enzyme. There are multiple gain and loss-of-function variants that have been associated with susceptibility to different types of cancer, as well as glaucoma 49 , 50 , 51 , 52 . In general, the hypothesis is that altered catalytic processing of exogenous chemicals and endogenous signaling processes underlie these associations.…”

“…There are several studies investigated the relationship between SOD polymorphisms and incidence of lung cancer failing to validate any association between SOD polymorphisms and lung cancer, which is in contrast to this study. Lao et al, (2014) for example, revealed that this polymorphism decreased the risk of lung cancer.…”

“…Animal studies showed 5/6 nephrectomy approach induced an approximately 3-fold increase in serum urea concentration and in AHR-AP in CKD mice compared to the sham-operated group ( Dou et al, 2018 ). AHR could also mediate transcriptional upregulation of cytochrome P450 Phase 1 hydrocylases CYP1A1, CYP1A2 and CYP1B1, the latter of which has been implicated to be a risk factor for the carcinogensis of certain cancers ( Lao et al, 2014 ; Wang Z. et al, 2020 ). These studies suggested that uremic toxins may be involved in tumorigenesis in CKD through its interaction with activation of this AHR signaling.…”
