Catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) is ubiquitously expressed enzyme that regulates catecholamines bioavailability, playing a key role in maintaining basic physiological functions such as sympathetic tone, mood, inflammation that influence pain and also in nervous systems which mediates pain perception.
