Objective This review assessed the impact of oral conditions on Oral Health Related Quality of Life among Indians. Methods Databases, including PubMed and Scopus, CINAHL, Web of Science, PsycInfo were systematically searched for English Language studies conducted among Indians up to July 2022. Two independent reviewers assessed studies selected for retrieval for methodological quality using standardised quality assessment instruments for analytical cross-sectional studies in JBI SUMARI. Results Fourty one publications were included in this review (N = 23,090). Studies includes both cross sectional study and Randomized Controlled Trials. Based on the JBI critical appraisal tools, the quality of the included studies was low to high. Twenty-six studies were considered for the meta-analysis. Individuals with dental caries [OR: 3.54 (95% CI 2.24- 5.60), ten studies, 4945 participants] and malocclusion [ OR: 5.44 (95% CI 1.61, 18.39), six studies, 3720 participants] had poor OHRQoL compared to individuals without oral conditions. Conclusions Despite the various definitions of the exposures and instruments used to assess Oral Health-Related Quality of Life, our review found that people with dental caries and malocclusion have a significantly higher experience of poor quality of life. Aim To compare the level of inflammatory markers, oral health‐related quality of life (OHRQoL), and gingival parameters 1 month after introduction of electric toothbrush and intensive oral hygiene manoeuvre adaptation (OHI) versus routine habits (no‐OHI) in patients affected by generalized gingivitis. Materials and Methods One hundred forty subjects with generalized gingivitis were randomized to receive either OHI or no‐OHI. Full‐mouth plaque/bleeding scores (FMPS/FMBS), serum high‐sensitivity C‐reactive protein (hs‐CRP), interleukin‐6 (IL‐6), and an oral health impact profile‐14 questionnaire were collected at baseline and at 1‐month follow‐up visit. Results In the OHI, a significant FMPS and FMBS reduction (p < .01), a significant intra‐group decrease in hs‐CRP and IL‐6 (p < .01), and a significant improvement of OHRQoL (p < .01) were noted at 1‐month follow‐up visit. In the no‐OHI, lower‐magnitude differences were noted only for oral parameters. Resolution of gingivitis varied between OHI and no‐OHI (89% vs. 7%, respectively, p < .01). A logistic multivariate regression suggested that FMBS ≤8% was associated with the odds ratio of 13, having both CRP and IL‐6 below the selected threshold for healthy young adults (p = .04). Conclusions Gingivitis resolution determined important reductions of gingival inflammation and plaque levels, as well as systemic inflammatory markers and an improvement of quality of life (NCT03848351).

Aim: The Chilean national program “Sembrando sonrisas” is an intersectoral work strategy that aims to maintain and improve the oral health of preschool children, fostering the promotion and prevention of oral health. The aim of this research was to explore the perceptions of the relevant actors regarding the implementation of the aforementioned program, identifying critical nodes and opportunities for improvement. Materials and Methods: Qualitative approach based on the “Grounded Theory” applied to 13 in-depth interviews of intersectoral health and education professionals from the Bío-Bío Region, Chile. Results: The following categories emerged related to intersectoral work with emphasis on Governance, Conditions for implementation, and Program management. Conclusions: It was shown that, despite the different per-ceptions of the participants, the success of the “Sembrando sonrisas” program is thought to be associated with the emotional-affective component that is present in all the stages of the implementation process. This component has not yet been sufficiently addressed by decision makers.
