Association of Janus kinase 2 polymorphisms with growth and reproduction traits in chickens

Abstract: Growth and reproduction are 2 economically important traits in the poultry industry. Janus kinase 2 (JAK) participates in the JAK2/signal transducer and activator of transcription 5 growth hormone signaling pathway, which plays important roles in the processes of growth and reproduction. The present study was designed to investigate the association of JAK2 SNP and haplotypes with growth as well as with reproductive traits in chickens. Fourteen JAK2 SNP were identified by pooled DNA sequencing, and 5 of these w… Show more

“…The complex It has been proposed that Aβ can cause signaling amplification that inactivates superoxide dismutase (SOD-2) and generates additional free radicals 56 . Moreover, AD model mice crossed with SOD-2 heterozygous knock out mice exhibited increased plaque deposition and tau phosphorylation in their brain 57 . Administration SOD reduces hippocampal superoxide and prevents memory deficits in a mouse model of AD 58,59 .…”

“…This approach enables more efficient breeding selection for egg production traits in chickens. Therefore, identification and application of potential candidate genes and associated genotypes can have significant economic implications and have become increasingly important in poultry breeding programs [27, 44, 48]. However, more candidate genes and single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are required for MAS in chicken breeding.…”

“…GNAI1 is connected with many signalling pathways. The influence of JAK2 gene on growth and reproduction trait was confirmed in meat-type chicken (Liu et al, 2010). The expression of SEMA3A was observed in central nervous system, typically in gray matter of spinal cord in chicken embryos (Fu et al 2000).…”
