Abstract: Although strong evidence exists linking fasting plasma levels of LDL cholesterol (LDL-C) and HDL cholesterol (HDL-C) to risk for development of coronary artery disease (CAD), the data in support of an independent role for fasting triglyceride (TG) concentrations are weak.
