Association of the CSN1S1 gene polymorphism with milk composition traits in Jamunapari goat

Abstract: The genetic polymorphism of the CSN1S1 (casein alpha-s 1 ) locus was investigated in Jamunapari goat breed by Sodium Dodicyle Sulphate -Poly Acrylamide Gel Electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) and Polymerase Chain Reaction -Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (PCR-RFLP). A total of 122 milk and blood samples were collected. The SDS-PAGE pattern revealed the presence of four variants of CSN1S1 locus namely, A, B, E and F. The A allele of -s1 -casein was observed in the majority of goats. The genotypic frequency of … Show more

“…In the Carpathian breed was observed the prevalence of alleles A (0.35) and B (0.40), whereas the occurrence of allele E was only 0.07 and F: 0.18 (Anghel et al, 2019). In Indian Jamunapari goat breed alleles A, B and F were detected with frequencies 0.456, 0.503 and 0.041, respectively (Verma et al, 2019), but in another research, it was detected in Indian Jamunapari A: 0.36, B: 0.303, C 0.081, D: 0.057, E: 0.081 and F: 0.14 (Singh et al, 2018).…”

“…The genotyping was carried out by SDS‐PAGE, PCR‐RFLP and sequencing the variants, and the effect of genotypes was established with milk composition traits and milk yield in the population. However, a pilot study has been carried out in Jamunapari goats with a smaller sample size and was reported by Singh et al ().…”

“…A pitcher scale was used in measuring the amount of milk (in milliliters, mL) produced by the animal during the milking process. Milk yield from the first to ≥ fourth parity were standardized to 90 and 140 d milking period, following the study of Singh et al (2018).…”
