Association of toll-like receptor 10 polymorphisms with paediatric idiopathic uveitis in Han Chinese

Abstract: AimsWe aimed to determine whether paediatric idiopathic uveitis (PIU) and juvenile idiopathic arthritis associated paediatric uveitis (JIA-PU) have an association with Toll-like receptor 10 (TLR10) gene polymorphisms in Han Chinese.MethodsTen tag single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of TLR10 were analysed in 992 PIU patients, 127 JIA-PU patients and 1600 controls using the Sequenom MassARRAY system and iPLEX Gold assay. Genotype and allele frequencies were analysed using the χ2 test. A stratified analysis wa… Show more

“…The reason for this result is not clearly understood. It has been reported that rapid economic development may contribute to an increased ambient temperature and high PM2.5 exposure [24,25]. The negative modulation of an increased per capita GDP on uveitis onset may be neutralized by the effect of increased temperature or PM2.5 exposure.…”

“…Amongst all of the analysed SNPs, rs10004195 (T>A) is the most studied, and was previously associated with H. pylori– related gastric cancer [21]. Another study found an association between TLR10 SNPs rs10004195 (T>A), rs2101521, rs11725309 and rs6841698 with paediatric idiopathic uveitis in a Han Chinese population [22]. Two TLR10 SNPs (rs11466617 and rs4129009) were associated with a lower susceptibility to tuberculosis in a Tibetan population, whilst rs10004195 (T>A) and rs11096957 showed no such relationship [23].…”

“…TLR4 as one of HMGB1 receptor, is a kind of exist in the cell surface used for signaling transmembrane receptor, has in the immune response to accurately identify the important role of pathogens and activate the immune response, and can induce secreted cytokines and regulate the immune system, so the author speculates in children with JIA TLR4 main reason for the increased in serum as TLR participates in the recognition of HMGB1. Some studies have shown that HMGB1 is positively correlated with TLR4, HMGB1 is synthesized in large numbers and released into the blood under the stimulation of some factors, thus the expression level of TLR4 also increases to participate in the signal mediated process of HMGB1 [15]. Globulin, as a serum protein with immune function in human body, has a variety of different types.…”
