Asteroseismology of twoKeplerdetached eclipsing binaries

Abstract: The present work contains light curve, spectroscopic, and asteroseismic analyses for KIC 04851217 and KIC 10686876. These systems are detached eclipsing binaries hosting a pulsating component of δ Scuti type and have been observed with the unprecedented accuracy of the Kepler space telescope. Using ground-based spectroscopic observations, the spectral types of the primary components of the systems were estimated as A6V and A5V for KIC 04851217 and KIC 10686876, respectively, with an uncertainty of one subclass… Show more

“…δ Scuti oscillations have been found in the Kepler light curve of other binary systems, e.g. KIC 3858884 (Maceroni et al [221]), KIC 4544587 (Hambleton et al [222]), KIC 10736223 (Chen et al [223]), KIC 4851217 and KIC 10686876 (Liakos et al [224]).…”

“…The properties of the system could only be matched by theoretical models accounting for binarity and with an enhanced opacity at several regions in the primary star. δ Scuti oscillations have been found in the Kepler light curve of other binary systems, e.g., KIC 3858884 (Maceroni et al [221]), KIC 4544587 (Hambleton et al [222]), KIC 10736223 (Chen et al [223]), KIC 4851217 and KIC 10686876 (Liakos et al [224]).…”

“…The analyses of Kepler LCs for EBs require special handling due to light variations caused by magnetic spots between successive LCs [c.f. 32,39,40]. The latter justifies our choice not to model all the available points folded into the P orb , but to model each LC separately.…”

“…Murphy et al [28], based on a sample of 2224 Kepler δ Scuti light curves, employed the pulsations timing technique [29][30][31] and identified 341 new binaries with long P orb (> 100 d) that 1 http://alexiosliakos.weebly.com/catalogue.html host a δ Scuti component. Liakos [32], using recently discovered systems, presented updated correlations between P pul − P orb and P pul − log g for close (i.e. P orb < 13 d) detached eclipsing binaries with a δ Scuti component.…”
