“…Here, the age of the boundary can be precisely calibrated. At Ouberg Pass in the southwest (Figure 1), the end‐Kiaman is dated at 266.5 ± 0.26 Ma (Lanci et al., 2022). The base of the Beaufort Group at Ouberg Pass occurs 138.9 m below this (Lanci et al., 2013).…”

“…Lanci et al. (2022) presented a cyclostratigraphic calibration combined with radiometric ages and reported a 266.5 ± 0.26 Ma age for the end‐Kiaman at Ouberg Pass (i.e., start of GU1n). The Tierberg, Kookfontein, and much of the Waterford formations of the Ecca Group in the southwestern part of the basin are characterized by dominantly reversed magnetic polarity, with a normal polarity magnetozone in the middle of the Tierberg Formation reported from the top of the KWZ‐01 core and several poorly constrained normal polarity subzones in the Kookfontein, Skoorsteenberg, and lower Tierberg formations (Abubakre & De Kock, 2021; Belica, Tohver, Flint, et al., 2017).…”
