Asymmetric Synthesis of (+)-Mequitazine from Quinine

Abstract: The first asymmetric synthesis of the antihistaminic drug mequitazine is reported. Our approach started from quinine, a Cinchona alkaloid, whose chiral information was exploited for setting up the stereogenic center of (+)-mequitazine.
