Asymptotic Performance Analysis of Successive Interference Cancellation With Dynamic User-Decoding Order

Abstract: We address the evaluation of dynamic (estimationbased) user-decoding order in successive interference cancellation (SIC) in a proof-of-concept multiple access satellite setting in which many code-division multiple access users employ nonorthogonal spreading codes and the same encoder. We consider the practical setting where user symbol energies, unknown to the receiver, are estimated by preamble cross-correlations. Thereafter, SIC proceeds in non-increasing order of the former estimates. In contrast with small… Show more

“…where R(t ) is the vector of R(t ) k−CSI 's, and for a given R(t ) , (p n k ( R)) (t ) is the objective value of problem (10) in time t. Due to convexity of problem (9), both problems (10) and (12) are convex. Problem (10) is a linear programming.…”

“…The remaining of this chapter starts in Section 5.1 with the state of the art relative to dynamically ordered SIC. The system models for many users and asymptotically many users [77] are presented, respectively, in Section 5.2 and Section 5.3. The best energy allocation strategy, derived in the asymptotic large-user regime [78], is addressed in Section 5.4.…”
