“…In the case of decomposition of sewage sludge, organic substances are the main components of the matrix. Also, the destruction of other types of matrix creates problems with the choice of the digestion method [34,36,42]. Generally, digestion of samples by method B (microwave mineralization of roasted sludge) allows extraction of the highest amounts of zinc, lead, nickel and chromium in both raw and stabilized sludge.…”

“…This design is, however, best suited for a small concentration range (0-2 mg L À1 in ref. 47) due to the number of samples growing as n 2 regardless of the number of factors (e.g., 20 2 in the present work and 5 2 in ref. 47).…”

“…Rare-earth elements (REEs) have numerous applications in high-tech industries 1 and the determination of REE concentrations is an essential task for geochemical exploration studies, mining, etc. 2 Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) is a common analytical method used to accomplish this task due to the wide dynamic range and low detection limits. [3][4][5] Inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) is a feasible alternative to ICP-MS in some cases.…”

“…The Part 2 experiment consisted of injecting 1 µL of a V porphyrin compound into an acetonitrile carrier stream flowing at 400 µL min -1 that passed first through a UV detector and then into the ICP-MS. Peak broadening was calculated as variance in units of µL 2 . Amazingly, values ranged from 10 to 8,000.…”
