Abstract:ost focal atrial tachycardias (ATs) originate from the right atrium (RA), the orifice of the pulmonary veins or the mitral annulus in the left atrium, 1-8 and radiofrequency (RF) catheter ablation has become an effective curative therapy. [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9] In the RA, AT often originates along the crista terminalis, para-Hisian region, or from the inferoseptum, including the ostium of the coronary sinus (CS). [1][2][3][4][5][6][7] We describe 2 cases of AT arising from the RA inferoseptum. The remarka… Show more
“…Radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA) has been developed as a curative treatment for supraventricular tachyarrhythmias. [36][37][38][39] Recently, several cases of the swallowing-induced tachyarrhythmias have been reported. 33,34 We also reported the utility of the noncontact mapping system for ablating swallowing-induced arrhythmias in two cases.…”

“…Radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA) has been developed as a curative treatment for supraventricular tachyarrhythmias 36‐39 . Recently, several cases of the swallowing‐induced tachyarrhythmias have been reported 33,34 .…”
Swallowing-induced tachyarrhythmias are rare, but have several distinct characteristics. RFCA should be considered in appropriately selected patients with reliable inducibility because such an ablation may offer a permanent cure.

“…Balbato et al described that typical AFL ECG was a good predictor of CTI-dependent AFL, but in about 10% of typical AFL ECG, a non-CTI AFL was identified [8,9]. Waldo and Okumura et al described that the surface ECG of atrial flutter was dependent on the activation sequence of the LA [10].…”
Cavotricuspid isthmus is an uncommon site of origin for focal AT. This focal AT has unique electrocardiographic characteristics such as saw-tooth morphology on ECG and is suggested to be caused by a focal reentrant circuit located at the CTI. Long-term success is achieved with focal ablation.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
