Abstract:Stone-skipping is a common yet complex motion that involves rigid-body dynamics and fluid–structure interaction (FSI). While many computational fluid dynamics methods are used to simulate the interaction between a stone and fluid, little research has been done to consider the stone, fluid, and fluid boundary as a whole in a simulation. This study, focuses on the attitude motion and free-surface deformation of stone-skipping over shallow water to investigate how the boundary effect of FSI impacts ricochet behav… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
