Au-Containing Coordination Polymers Based on Polyphosphorus Ligand Complexes

Abstract: Whereas the self-assembly of pentaphosphaferrocenes [Cp R Fe(η 5 -P 5 )] (Cp R = Cp*, Cp × , and Cp Bn ) with Cu and Ag salts has been well-studied in the past, the coordination chemistry toward Au complexes has been left untouched so far. Herein, the results of the self-assembly processes of [Cp R Fe(η 5 -P 5 )] with Au salts of different anions (GaCl 4 − , SbF 6 − , and Al(OC(CF 3 ) 3 ) 4 (TEF − )) are reported. Next to a variety of molecular coordination products, the first coordination polymers based on po… Show more

“…This method is the most widely used for printing polymers because it involves embedding a template molecule entirely in the matrix material and then removing the imprinted material completely after polymer chains [ 13 ]. There are many commercial polymeric materials and nanomaterials on the market today that are inert, and as such, surface modification is essential to boost their adherence and to soak properties by adding polar as well as other structural features to their surfaces [ 16 ]. According to commercial polymeric materials, the number of publications on nanomaterials and polymers has increased exponentially since their inception [ 17 ].…”

“…[11] Moreover, the metal center and therefore the associated metal salt has a considerable impact on the system as well. Among coinage metals, gold being a two-coordinate cation has a linear or planar coordination geometry around the metal center, [12] scarcely providing sufficient coordination sites. Copper(I) cations supply from three to four coordination sites, however, copper salts either contain copper complex cations with coordinated solvent molecules or dissolve in organic media only upon complexation with solvents as for instance acetonitrile, which would compete with the targeted organic ligand for coordination and uncontrollably block coordination sites at the metal center.…”

“…After the appreciation of coordination chemistry by awarding Nobel Prize to Alfred Werner, the field itself demands as an effective member in the club of material science. [1][2][3][4][5] Actually, coordination compounds are hybrid in nature as these are composed of both the inorganic metal ion and organic ligand. Thus, by varying the organic ligands and metal ions, one can easily tailor the structure as well as the overall properties of the compound.…”
