This study describes the preparation of new surface‐modified nanodiamond (ND) particles containing urethane‐based hybrid materials by photopolymerization of aliphatic urethane acrylate, trimethylolpropane triacrylate, glycidyl methacrylate monomers, and their usage for lead adsorption from aqueous media. ND and synthesized surface‐modified ND were characterized by atom transfer radical addition Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR‐FTIR) and scanning transmission electron microscopy analysis. Crosslinked adsorbent nanocomposites were then treated with polyethylene imine and all adsorbent nanocomposites were characterized by ATR‐FTIR, scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and contact angle measurements. The metal ion binding capacity of the surfaces of the nanocomposites containing high amine content was investigated. The effects of the percentage of functional monomer, pH, and contact time on adsorption, and the interaction of foreign metal ions have been tested. Optimum contact time was found to be 7 h at pH 5. The adsorption capacity of the synthesized nanocomposite adsorbent for lead (II) was determined as 17.12 mg g−1. Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms were used to determine the adsorption behaviors and Langmuir isotherm model was found to be the most suitable model (R2: 0.9988). The amount of adsorption of Pb (II) ions of UV curable adsorbent film prepared in river water samples was investigated. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. Sci. 2019, 136, 48241.

Adsorption of gold, rhodium, platinium, and palladium species containing chlorine ions species onto commercial N-{2-[Bis(2-aminoethyl)amino]ethyl}aminomethyl–polystyrene polymer beads (TRIS) were investigated. The influence of the pH, initial metal ion concentration, and contact time on the adsorption performance was examined in a batch adsorption experiment. Langmuir, Modified Langmuir, Freundlich and Freundlich, Dubinin–Radushkevich isotherm model variables are calculated. The Langmuir monolayer adsorption capacities of the Pd (II), and Au (III) chlorine ions species were found to be 204.5, and 168.5 mg/g, respectively. The two metal adsorption kinetics fit the pseudo-second order kinetic models. In thermodynamic calculations, the choice of different equilibrium constant and withal using dimension containing constant usage are an important problem in the field. To overcome these problems, the Modified Langmuir isotherm equilibrium constant is used at determination of thermodynamic parameters. Adsorption mechanism steps were characterized by using FT-IR, SEM, and EDS. The adsorbent is interacted with each metal ions in HCl solution electrostatic interaction and surface complex formation between the amine groups. The calculation of the thermodynamic parameters using the dimensionless modified Langmuir equilibrium constant calculated more satisfying and more reliable way. All thermodynamic parameters suggested that Pd (II) and Au (III) adsorptions onto TRIS beads was a spontaneous, physisorption.

Here we show effect of the polyamine polymer chain length to BET isotherms. According to IUPAC classification [1], all three polymers are fitting type 1 physical adsorption isotherm with H3 hysteresis (except for EDA having H2 hysteresis). Moreover, TG and TGA analysis of polymers triazine-ethylenediamine (EDA) and triazine-triethylenetetramine (TETA) are provided. Due to the similarities of the structure, main decomposition temperatures are close to each other (between 593 K and 873 K). In order to understand change of FTIR spectra with adsorption and stripping Au(III), fresh, Au(III) adsorbed and recycled spectras of polymers measured.
