Aureimonas glaciistagni sp. nov., isolated from a melt pond on Arctic sea ice

Abstract: A Gram-staining-negative, motile, aerobic and rod-shaped bacterial strain, PAMC 27157 T , was isolated from a melt pond on sea ice in the Chukchi Sea. Phylogenetic analysis of the 16S rRNA gene sequence of strain PAMC 27157 T revealed an affiliation to the genus Aureimonas with the closest sequence similarity (96.2 %) to that of Aureimonas phyllosphaerae. Strain PAMC 27157 T grew optimally at 30 8C and pH 7.0 in the presence of 3.5 % (w/v) NaCl. The major polar lipids were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylg… Show more

“…In contrast to the new strains, Aureimonas phyllosphaerae DSM 25026 T , Aureimonas ureilytica . Data for growth temperature, NaCl and pH range tests given in parentheses were taken from the original species descriptions (Weon et al, 2007;Kim et al, 2008;Jurado et al, 2006;Madhaiyan et al, 2013;Cho et al, 2015). Good growth was obtained after 3 days of incubation between 15 and 28 C (no growth at 4 C or at 30 C or above; Fig.…”

“…The beta diversity was estimated by means of the Principal coordinates analysis (PCoA) with the Bray Curtis dissimilarity metric, to summarize the variation of phyllosphere community structure along the sampling sites. Alpha diversity and the constrained ordination analyses were performed with the function Ordinate in R software [23] using the Phyloseq Package [24]. Bar graphs with the dominant taxonomic groups, (i.e., at least 1% of relative abundance within a given sample) were generated to identify the contribution of different classes in each environment.…”

“…Few studies paid attention to the chemical potential of the epiphytic bacteria (16,18,(21)(22)(23)(24) and to their social interactions (21,25,26); and most of those investigations focused in interactions with the intent to control plant diseases (27,28), or frost injury (29) or within bacteria-host interactions (30,31). Much less understood are the non-pathogenic microorganisms that inhabit the phylloplane and their chemical potential (16,20,21).…”
