Unfortunately, however, teachers of students with ASD have been found to report significantly poorer relationships with them than has been reported by teachers of students with ID or TD, indicating greater conflict and less closeness (Blacher, Howell, Lauderdale-Littin, DiGennaro Reed, & Laugeson, (2014). As student-teacher conflict is driven primarily by the presence of youth behavior problems (Blacher, Baker, & Eisenhower, 2009), enhanced in-service training for teachers of youth with ASD that is focused on recognizing and responding to disruptive behavior disorders may have the added benefit of better student-teacher relationships, and more likelihood of more successful school outcomes.…”
