“…The proteolytic activation of PC2 has been the subject of several previous investigations. Studies using oocyte extracts and site-directed mutants of proPC2 have shown that the conversion of proPC2 (75 kD) to mature PC2 (64 kD) is autocatalytic, and that it is apparently mediated through an intermolecular reaction which is extremely slow in this system (Matthews et al, 1994;Shennan et al, 1995).
