Autologous Fat Transplantation Versus Adipose-Derived Stem Cell–Enriched Lipografts: A Study

Abstract: Adipose-derived stem cell-enriched lipografts produced aesthetically-acceptable results without the need for repeat treatment sessions, which are necessary with autologous fat transplantation. Further long-term studies are necessary to confirm the favorable results seen in this study.

“…10,29,30 Cell-assisted lipotransfer, a procedure in which stromal vascular fraction cells are isolated and then mixed with adipose-tissue before re-injection, has been suggested to improve graft take. 31 However, the process to isolate ASCs from adipose tissue by collagenase digestion cannot be considered as "minimal manipulation" and requires compliance with good manufacturing process technical standards and regulatory limitations. 32 In this respect, lipotransfer is less expensive and time consuming and can be performed in a single surgical procedure.…”

“…Recently, adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) have been isolated in the aspirates (Sterodimas et al 2011). These are pluripotent mesenchymal stem cells that are similar to bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (Sterodimas et al 2011;Tiryaki et al 2011;Park et al 2008).…”

“…These are pluripotent mesenchymal stem cells that are similar to bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (Sterodimas et al 2011;Tiryaki et al 2011;Park et al 2008). Indeed, ADSCs are able to differentiate in mature adipose cells or other adult mesenchymal cells after paracrine or autocrine hormonal stimulations (Yang et al 2010;Takeda et al 2015;Wang et al 2015;Salibian et al 2013).…”
