Abstract:Avascular necrosis of the femoral head can traumatic or non-traumatic in origin. Embolism (hemoglobinopathies, dysbaric osteonecrosis), corticosteroid treatment, alcohol usage, pelvic irradiation, and genetic susceptibility are among the causes of this clinical entity. Pathogenesis is influenced by thrombophilia, hypofibrinolysis, and hypoangiogenesis.
