Axially symmetric propagation of small-amplitude ion-acoustic waves

Abstract

In this paper a generalization of the Korteweg–de Vries equation, which may be applicable to the axially symmetric propagation of ion-acoustic waves from a conical mesh, is sought. In an appropriate limit the equation for propagation of axially symmetric waves in a cylindrical geometry is also obtained.
