Azo Dye DB71 Degradation Using Ultrasonic-Assisted Fenton Process: Modeling and Process Optimization

Abstract: In the present study, ultrasonic-assisted Fenton process called sono-Fenton (SF) with low concentration of Fenton reagents was studied via degradation of Direct Blue 71. Influences of seven operational parameters including initial pH (pH 0 ), initial concentration of pollutant (C 0 ), dose of Fenton reagents (C Fe and C H2O2 ), ultrasound irradiation frequency (Fr S ), ultrasound irradiation power (P S ), and treatment time (t SF ) were investigated on the dye removal efficiency (DR). A combined design of expe… Show more

“…Advance oxidation process has a great potential over the conventional methods because in this method the metal-oxides nanoparticles can easily react with the dyes and form non-toxic products [2,8]. Among the various oxidation processes like ozonation process [9], photocatalytic oxidation process [1], photo-Fenton process [10] and ultrasonic oxidation process [11], the photocatalytic oxidation process is a simple and most advanced technique. In the photocatalytic process, metal oxide semiconductor nanoparticles acts as photocatalysts for the degradation of various dyes [6,12].…”
