Azole Antifungal Resistance in Candida albicans and Candida glabrata Isolated from Vulvovaginal Candidiasis Patients

Abstract: Background: Vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) is the most frequent fungal disorder in healthy and normal women. Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the in vitro antifungal susceptibility of clinical isolates Candida albicans and Candida glabrata, the two most common candida species in Iranian patients with VVC. Methods: One hundred and eight clinical isolates of candida, including; C. albicans (n = 77) and C. glabrata: (n = 31) were isolated from the 108 patients with VVC. The in vitro activity of c… Show more

“…Furthermore, resistance to Voriconazole and Itraconazole were observed in 8.4%, and 3.7% of stains. 26 The resistance rates of Fluconazole, Clotrimazole and Miconazole of the current study are higher than other population because of the irrational and excessive use of these drugs. A good agreement between DD method and BMD was reported in India which is similar to that found in this study.…”

“…All plates were left for 30 mints at room temperature; antifungal disks were placed on the surface of (MH-GMB) medium. The plates were incubated at 37°C for 24 h. The inhibition zone formed around the antifungal disks was measured in inhibition and calculated in (mm), and interpreted as described by CLSI (Sensitive S, resistant R, susceptible dose dependent (SDD) 13 .…”
