Back to nature ideology, the case study of western Serbia

Abstract

?Perhaps only human beings can have enough distance from the matrix of life to abstract an idea of Nature and brood about going away from or back to it.? (Mills 2008, 1) This paper focuses on the perception of nature and the natural, which I marked as an ideological viewpoint and will analyze as such. I have based my research on the following sources: different platforms of internet communities connected by the desire to ?return to nature? and interviews from the field research in Western Serbia that I have been conducting continuously since 2018. The goal of the paper is to contribute to a better understanding of the concept of ?living in harmony with nature? and the impact that this idea has had on different aspects of the community?s social and political life.
