Background light reduction method with a double phase conjugate mirror and a phase plate for optical inter-satellite communications

Abstract: In optical intersatellite communication, the background light consisting mainly of sunlight decrease transmission rate with increasing bit error. A spatial filtering system using a double-phase-conjugate mirror (DPCM) and a phase plate is proposed to block the background light, which cannot be filtered out by using wavelength filters, polarization filters, or dousers.
