“…The higher number of observations in Lower Egypt is due to the Nile Valley that forms a migration corridor through the Sahara (Corbet 1999;Laister 2005) and P. flavescens can occur there in swarms from May to December (Dijkstra & Boudot 2010). The species has been regularly observed in the Levant (Dumont 1991;Monnerat & Hoess 2011), in Turkey (Dumont 1977Seidenbusch 1995;Jödicke 1998;Arlt 1999;Aydin 2006;Hacet & Aktaç 2004;Kalkman & van Pelt 2006;Salur et al 2012) and in the Arabian Peninsula (Dumont & Safadi 1991;Schneider & Krupp 1993;Lambret et al 2017) although no breeding populations have been established. It is considered a rare migrant in Europe, where up to the end of 2019 there were only just over 50 published records for the entire continent.…”
