“…A wide variety of clinical balance measures also were utilized, including tests such as the Romberg (Birdane et al 2016; Apeksha et al 2021) or the Fukuda or Unterberger stepping test (Birdane et al 2016; Apeksha et al 2021), standardized clinical measures of balance such as the BOT (Horak et al 1988), or Movement Assessment Battery for Children (Ionescu et al 2020), or other clinical balance measures such as tandem gait (Apeksha et al 2021) or standing on one foot (Potter & Silverman 1984; Jafari & Asad Malayeri 2011) (Table 1).…”

“…Several of these previously published studies employed descriptive analysis in their studies and reported the qualitative finding that abnormal results on vestibular testing more often resulted in abnormal results on clinical balance testing. In other words, the authors pointed out that those who had abnormal vestibular testing results often had a greater frequency of abnormal balance results compared with control participants with normal-hearing and normal vestibular results (Nishida et al 1983;Apeksha et al 2021) Ionescu et al (2020) found balance performance was significantly worse in the groups with either unilateral or bilateral vestibular dysfunction compared with group with normal vestibular function. However, they did not find that balance performance was significantly different between children with unilateral and bilateral vestibular dysfunction.…”

“…Many of the researchers have studied the characteristics of cVEMP and oVEMP in children with hearing loss [8,20,22,[28][29][30]. Table 2 shows the summary of the cVEMP and oVEMP studies on children with SNHL.…”

“…Children with SNHL show vestibular system dysfunction as highlighted by the published reports. Many of the researchers have shown abnormal cVEMP and oVEMP results in children with SNHL [8,[20][21][22][23]. Reports also suggest vestibular dysfunction in children with SNHL using cochlear implants [24][25][26].…”
