Ball Aerospace Advances in 35 K Cooling–the Sb235e Cryocooler

Abstract: This paper describes the design, development, testing and performance of the Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. SB235E, a 2-stage long life space cryocooler optimized for 2 cooling loads. The SB235E model is designed to provide simultaneous cooling at 35 K (typically for HgCdTe detectors) and 85 K (typically for optics). The SB235E is a higher capacity model derivative of the SB235.
