Basic performance and stability of a CdTe solid-state detector panel

Abstract: The basic performance of the CdTe-gamma camera system was evaluated, and its stability was verified. It was shown that the camera could be operated daily for several months without calibration.

“…The long-term stability of the energy resolution of the CdTe detectors was assured by periodically resetting the bias [8]. No significant variances in the spectral peak position and energy resolution of the CdTe detectors were observed for over a year [9]. The energy of detected gamma rays is recorded in list-mode data.…”

“…The size of each detector pixel is 1.2 Â 1.4 Â 5 mm. The intrinsic energy resolution (FWHM) of the CdTe detector is 6.6 % at 140.5 keV, and the count-rate linearity is maintained at 200 kcps per head and under [9]. For high-sensitivity imaging, a wide aperture parallel-hole collimator (Fig.…”

“…Discovery NM 530c or 630 (GE healthcare) and D-SPECT (Spectrum Dynamics), equipped with cadmium-zinc-telluride (CZT) detecting elements, are commercially available [35][36][37][38] and a prototype gamma camera: R1-M (Hitachi, Ltd.), equipped with cadmium-telluride detecting elements, is currently being developed [39,40]. Compared with conventional NaI gamma cameras, the CZT gamma cameras have multiple advantages, such as improved spatial resolution, high energy resolution, and high sensitivity which reduces patients' discomfort and minimizes motion artifacts [37,40,41].…”
