Timely diagnosis in fetal medicine has always been of a great importance, but development of different techniques within various imaging modalities over the last decade enables completely different diagnostic approach with higher sensitivity and specificity, which results in prompt diagnosis and therapy, if necessary, even during fetal period. Ultrasound, particularly 3D, remains the cornerstone of maternal-fetal imaging, but other imaging modalities, such as fetal magnetic resonance, are used more frequently because it may provide novel information that cannot be reached with sonography.This Special Issue of the Journal was conceived with the ambitious goal to present and illustrate the technological advancements that ultrasound applications have reached in the field of maternal and fetal imaging.
