Abstract. UPS (Uninterruptible Power System) is a kind of high-powder electronic device that can provide high-quality electric power continuously and stably. Accumulator plays important role as energy storage equipment and its charging and discharging process is a complex electrochemical reaction, and parameters have strong nonlinearity and discreteness. At present, there is no unified and accurate method to carry out modeling and simulation to accumulator system and model difference of every kind of battery is large; therefore, it is necessary to develop model with small error and less calculated amount and with change performance consistent with accumulator in actual working condition.

Batteries are becoming integral part of day to day life with increase in local generation. A more effective battery monitoring and Management techniques are required to maintain the batteries. Impedance based monitoring is becoming a very effective procedure to do the same. Various techniques have been proposed. The Randels model is the most appropriate circuit to explain the phenomenon of the battery. Determining the elements or their change can help us determine the SOC and SOH of the battery. The proposed method determines the change of R s (electrolyte resistance) and C d (capacity representation) to understand the variation of State-of-charge (SOC) and State-ofhealth (SOH). The varying resistance approach implemented through a boost chopper is implemented to determine the change in R s. The FFT analysis data is extracted from the voltage and current waveforms of the battery to implement the Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) in the modified form. This is a good experimental technique for online determination of battery SOC and SOH. The implementation is done using MATLAB Simulink.

This work aims to develop biocompatible non-toxic materials for implantable bio-electronic cells. Polypyrrole (PPy)-carbon nanotube (CNT) composites with varied ratios of PPy to CNTs were chemically synthesized and used as cathodes with the support of cellulose paper. Zinc foil was used as the anode material due to its non-toxicity and moderate dissolution rate in aqueous solutions. Simulated body fluids (SBFs) with various protein concentrations were applied as electrolytes in this battery system. The PPy-CNT|Zn cell is capable of being discharged up to 24.5 hours at a current density of 60 μA cm −2 in a protein free SBF. The batteries have also been tested in vitro using SBFs containing bovine serum albumin (BSA) with different concentrations. Such a battery can be charged up to 35.1 hours (1.26 W h) in the electrolyte containing 8 g L −1 BSA, which is 10% of the genuine protein concentration of blood plasma. The effects of adding BSA to the electrolyte on both the anodic reactions and the redox capabilities of the PPy-CNT cathodes are also investigated.
