BaYb2 – xErxGe3O10 and BaY2 – 10yYb9yEryGe3O10: Luminescent Properties and Prospects for Applications in Remote Temperature Determination

Abstract: Triorthogermanates BaYb 2 -x Er x Ge 3 O 10 (x = 0.1-0.3) and BaY 2 -10y Yb 9y Er y Ge 3 O 10 (y = 0.015-0.15) are synthesized by the solid phase method. According to X-ray powder diffraction data, the compounds crystallize in a monoclinic system, space group P2 1 /m, Z = 2. The concentration and power dependences of upconversion luminescence that occurs in the range of 510-720 nm upon excitation by radiation with a wavelength of 980 nm are studied. The mechanism of energy transfer between optical sites is pro… Show more

“…Moreover, excellent thermal and chemical stability, hardness and large transparency make germanates favorable hosts for creating efficient persistent luminescent materials and phosphors for LEDs. [8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16] In this work, we report a new BaRE 6 (Ge 2 O 7 ) 2 (Ge 3 O 10 ) family, containing both [Ge 2 O 7 ] and [Ge 3 O 10 ] groups in the structure. The crystal/electronic structures and optical properties of these germanates are discussed in detail.…”
