Bayesian and Non-Bayesian Reliability Estimation of Stress-Strength Model for Power-Modified Lindley Distribution

Abstract: A two-parameter continuous distribution, namely, power-modified Lindley (PML), is proposed. Various structural properties of the new distribution, including moments, moment-generating function, conditional moments, mean deviations, mean residual lifetime, and mean past lifetime, are provided. The reliability of a system is discussed when the strength of the system and the stress imposed on it are independent. Maximum-likelihood estimation of the parameters and their estimated asymptotic standard errors are der… Show more

“…In this section, Bayesian inference was used to estimate the GAPL distribution parameters using an informative prior in order to achieve the correct posterior distributions. For more information and examples of the Bayesian estimation method, see [23,[50][51][52][53][54][55].…”

“… The two most well-known asymmetric loss functions are the LINEX and the entropy loss functions. Varian [ 56 ] introduced an extremely helpful asymmetric loss function, which has recently been used in several publications by [ 52 , 57 , 58 ].…”

“…In recent years, the Bayesian approach has developed into the most widely used technique in a variety of fields, including but not limited to various applications; for further details see [35][36][37][38]. Its ability to use prior information in the analysis makes it especially useful in reliability and quality studies, where one of the significant variables is reliability; see [39,40]. The Bayes estimates and related credible interval of the model parameters α, β, γ, and δ are covered in this section.…”

“…It is worth mentioning that the Bayesian method is performed via the square error loss function. Many applications for this method have been found by researchers, including Xu et al [35], Almetwally et al [36], Al-Babtain et al [37], and Zhou et al [38]. Further, we introduce a confidence interval (CI) for the model parameters by using the asymptotic distribution of the MLE procedure, and various entropy information measures are introduced.…”
