Behavior modeling of permanent magnet synchronous motors using flux linkages for coupling with circuit simulation

Abstract: Accurate PMSM drive simulation which utilizes a behavior model produced from FEA results to consider the nonlinear characteristics has been requested to evaluate the driving performance. This paper proposes an advanced behavior motor model based on the flux linkage model instead of the inductance model to be able to simplify the derivation of the equations and to reduce the amount of table data produced from FEA results. The effectiveness of the proposed model which includes the magnetic saturation and cross-c… Show more

“…The dynamic behavior of the DTC's controlled variables (i.e., torque and flux) depends on the voltage vector applied to the machine terminals, which can be represented by different mathematical models for PMSM [37]. If the fluxlinkage-based model in the stationary coordinates (𝛼𝛽) is employed, the stator flux vector (𝝍 𝛼𝛽 = 𝜓 𝛼 + j𝜓 𝛽 ) and the electromagnetic torque (𝑇 𝑒 ) can be expressed as…”

“…An adaption of rare‐earth magnet and flexible power control of power electronics to traditional synchronous motors has made them more attractive electric drives in terms of high efficiency, flexible controllability and high densities of power and torque . With the spread of applications, there is a need for the electric drives to satisfy the diverse demands of users, and the motor should ensure high‐efficiency operation at multiple operating points on the speed–torque plane.…”
