Abstract:Corrosion is accountable for numerous malfunctions and leakages in gas pipelines. In instances of external corrosion, due to the internal pressure within the pipes, stress concentrations can occur around the corroded areas. These, in the presence of cavities or cracks resulting from corrosion, may amplify the risk of pipeline failure.
