“…It is established that a charge‐transfer complex is formed in the styrene maleic anhydride system20–22 which is also supported by our study of zeta potential measurements which indicate that RISUG® is a charged complex, the intensity of which increases on its hydrolysis in saline (Figure 1). The polyelectrolyte nature of the RISUG® particles were also demonstrated by dependence of the reduced viscosity η red to polymer concentration c p as observed in Figure 2 23. This high surface charge density of RISUG® leads to the formation of a complex with ionic biomolecules present in the seminal plasma (Figure 4).…”

“…1 H NMR was then applied to calculate the esterification reaction ratio of the MAn groups (Figure S2c, Supporting Information). The integral areas of δ = 5.3–5.5, 1.8–2.3, and 1.0–1.4 ppm, attributed to H(4), H(3, 6, 14), and H(10, 11), respectively, proved that the vinyl acetates in PMV/Na were fully intact and 49.8% of the MAn groups had reacted with the DAA molecules . The atomic percentages of C, O, and Na in PMV/Na as measured by energy dispersive spectroscopy were 55.74%, 36.41%, and 7.85%, respectively, which verified the results of the esterification reaction ratio of the MAn groups obtained from 1 H NMR data (Figure S2d, Supporting Information).…”

“…Finally, as the St monomer was being added gradually, the PVAc/PS composite latex particles were fabricated (Scheme 1d). Under the water, heating, and acerbic conditions, the hydrolysis of the MA monomer was very easy, and this process formed maleic acid [35].…”
