“…Considering the issue from the perspective of parents with children with intellectual disabilities, it is seen that parents tend not to accept and ignore their children's problems (Akdemir & Sarı, 2019) and have difficulty accepting that their children can grow up (Celik, 2017b). When we examine the perspectives of society and parents on the sexuality and sexual development of individuals with intellectual disabilities, it is seen that individuals with intellectual disabilities exhibit asexual and childlike behaviors and have difficulty in controlling their sexual impulses (Gurol et al, 2014;Ortland, 2008;Tutar Guven & Isler Dalgıç, 2015), individuals who do not have sexual feelings, desires and needs (Bosch, 2006;Treiber, 2011;Walter, 2002) or, on the contrary, individuals who experience sexuality excessively (Bilge et al, 2013). Every individual, whether mentally retarded or not, has the right to receive information about their sexual development and to experience the changes that occur in the development process.…”
