“…Thus, there is a need to move away from a recognition system that emphasises quantity over quality or that under-emphasises the latter (Richards et al, 2021). Yet, 'good' qualitative research does not always necessarily translate into a 'good' qualitative researcher simply because the measures to assess each differ and because of the liminality that exists between the transition between an ECR and an established researcher (Pagan, 2019). ECRs thus need to feel a sense of inclusivity, acceptance and recognition by peers (Skakni & McAlpine, 2017).…”

“…However, often "good" research has been associated with fitting within criteria of being rigorous and trustworthy, which leads to ignoring the nuances of researchers' experience (deGama et al, 2019). This in turn makes it challenging to produce "good" and honest research because it can stifle a researcher's ability to reflect on their critical experiences (deGama et al, 2019;Pagan, 2019). Thus, as qualitative researchers in organization and management, we need to seriously reflect on our fieldwork.…”

“…With this, students from different family backgrounds interact with other students. Pagan (2019) states that social interaction is a complex phenomenon, which the people are in some specific situation in which they act and react.
