Beliefs and controversies

Abstract

The article brings together information from documentary and bibliographical sources and from participant observations to propose a qualitative matrix of beliefs and positions regarding the place of women in leadership in evangelical churches. The different beliefs seek to legitimize themselves by showing their relationship with passages of the biblical text that constitute a source of authority for the construction of arguments. The spaces of leadership in which the participation of women is accepted and those in which controversies and different positions are presented are highlighted. It has been observed that the ecclesial traditions, personal experiences and disciplinary formation of the subjects give space for the nuances found.
