Abstract: Integrons are adaptive devices that capture, stockpile, shuffle and express gene cassettes thereby sampling combinatorial phenotypic diversity. Some integrons called sedentary chromosomal integrons (SCIs) can be massive structures containing hundreds of cassettes.
