Benchmarking of Gas‐Assisted Atomization Systems for Liquid Disintegration

Abstract: Four different gas-assisted atomizer systems are compared to assess their atomization performance for water and polymer solution feeds. An external mixing twinfluid atomizer serving as standard atomization configuration is compared to three rather unconventional atomization techniques. An internal mixing atomization system is represented by an effervescent atomizer that can be operated at lower air-to-liquid ratio than the conventional gas atomizers. Superheated atomization is an innovative technique to enhanc… Show more

“…Based on the micrographs, it appears that the CoCrMo, CP-Ti, and Ti64 powders are spherical, whereas the 316L powders are relatively non-spherical. Satellite powders are often attached to the surface of powders with medium particle sizes, particularly the 316L-M and CoCrMo-M groups, which is considered to be a typical feature of powders produced by the atomization process [30,31]. The particle size distribution of all powders is summarized after sieving, and the results are in line with expectations, as shown in Table S2.…”

“…The following four different supercritical gas‐assisted atomizer systems were investigated by Gunther et al, and they further compared the atomization performance for water and polymer solution feeds: external mixing, effervescent atomization, superheated atomization, and CO 2 ‐assisted atomization. An external mixing twin‐fluid atomizer was used as standard atomization configuration and is compared with three rather unusual atomization techniques.…”

“…Parçacık boyunun kiriş çapı ve kılcal dalga boyu ile doğrudan ilişkili olduğunu göstermişlerdir. Günther vd [6]. yaptıkları çalışmalarında gaz-destekli atomizasyon sistemlerinde sıvı parçalanması olayını dört farklı atomizör kullanarak araştırmışlar ve 3 farklı sıvının spray morfolosini incelemişlerdir.…”
